In addition to a Tech or perhaps terrain requirement (i.e. coast), every World Wonder requires a certain number of Social Policies in order to be built or a Policy to be finished or an Ideology chosen.

Investing 20xGoldcosts rise for every city in the empire, listed prices are for one city. Investment, although rather costly, gives 25% of the 20xProduction cost (instead of 50%). Babylon's investment bonus happens to also work on Wonders gives them an additional 15%. Division of Labor (Industry) invests an additional 10% to the Wonder. Be sure to invest before the Wonder goes to 75% completion, as by than you can no longer invest.

Losing a Wonder race grants you some Yield as compensation (it is 33% 20xCulture by default).

Great Engineers can finish a Wonder in the same turn if they would give more 20xProduction than the Wonder costs (also, each Manufactory YOU have made increases the Engineer's bulb by 20%).

Sources of additonal 20xProduction% for Wonders:

  1. Stone increases the 20xProduction of pre- Medieval Era Wonders by 10%.
  2. Marble increases the 20xProduction of pre- Industrial Era Wonders by 15%.
  3. Egypt has +20% 20xProduction towards Wonders (+40% 20xProduction during a GoldenAge5 [ as well as +20% 20xProduction from being in a GoldenAge5]).
  4. Communism (Order): +20% 20xProduction towards Wonders

Every World Wonder you build increases the cost of other World Wonders, particularly those in the same Era. Take note when taking a City that has plenty of Wonders already. Likewise, you can try to enter a new Era to make the current Wonder you were building cheaper.

For every Wonder of the same Era: 25%

For every Wonder of the previous Era: 15%

For every Wonder from 2 Eras prior: 10%

Wonders earlier than 2 Eras don't count.
